Nested IF can often be avoided by using IF AND, like: =IF(AND(C12="Y", D12="Y"), 500, 0)

This video has helped me a lot. Basically, with the IF you need to nest it after hitting the first criterium, whereas with IFs you just type whatever shows up. Initially, I have struggled with this, but I am getting to grips with this now. Thank you so much for the tutorial! It has made an academic lesson very engaging.

Nested IF is more structered when there are many conditions to check, but for 2 or 3 conditions the IF is better
