Rewrite the inequality in terms of y² as
A. Writing the inequality twice as 3 < |y| < 7 and 3 < |y| < 7

B. Multiply the extremes as 3×3, 3×7, 7×3 and 7×7.

C. Choose the highest and lowest values in (B) above as 9 and 49

D. Hence,
9 < y² < 49

Back to the options A and B,
Subtract 5 from both options.

Qa= y²
Qb= 45

From (D) above, y² is between 9 and 49 hence y² can be greater than, equal to or less than 45.
Hence D

answer is A is greater because if we take the value of y as 8.9 then the value is 52.27 which is greater than 50

My answer:

If 3<y<7, it means y is between 4, 5, or 6.

I will take the largest number which is 6 then multiply by 6, which is 36 + 5 which is 41, which means B is Greater.
