Wisconsin has closed primaries. You cannot pick and choose which candidate you vote for a position in either party, you can only vote in the Democratic primary or in the Republican primary, although you do not have to vote for every open office. There was cross-over voting by Democrats who chose to vote in the Republican closed primary for only one position - that of the nominee for Governor. Kleefisch would have been much more palatable and electable than Michels. I believe Evers is going to win because (1) he did nothing to hurt Wisconsin legislation wise and (2) because of the big push by Democrats to get the vote out across the state for Mandela Barnes to win the seat in the U.S. Senate to get that senile hack Ron Johnson out of office.
