Purchase/Stream 'Wish Upon A Blackstar':

Wish Upon A Blackstar, one of the most anticipated albums of the year, is a masterwork by a master artist. The album's sixteen songs seamlessly blend genres from Electro and Dubstep to Rock and Orchestral with an intricacy and precision seldom heard in today's Electronic music. But it's not just studio wizardry and digital complexity; even the best production has little staying power without strong songcraft to back it up, and this is where Celldweller brings his deeply honed songwriting ability to bear, making Wish Upon A Blackstar an album that will long outlast its contemporaries. Truly epic in scope and execution, Wish Upon A Blackstar will not only leave a lasting mark on the always-changing landscape of Electronic music, but will stand the test of time as a remarkable statement of artistic virtue in a sea of disposable trends.

This is by far one of Klaytons best and most meaningful songs he's ever made.

Lyrics:

I finally get what you've been saying
Now that we're knee deep side by side
The storm clouds are circling above us
As we struggle against the tide

I feel your grip firm on my shoulder
But this fear in my head won't subside
They patiently circle around us
As we hold out

Oh father, why have they forsaken me?
You warned me that they would
Because it's passing down the bloodline
It's spoken and misunderstood

We're losing light
And strength of will
The darkened depths beckoning still
Then we hold on against the tide

"Another storm you're left to fight alone
Remember son, you're reaping what you've sown
Under the waves and sinking like a stone
I'm sorry son, you're reaping what you've sown"

"Another storm you're left to fight alone
Remember son, you're reaping what you've sown
Under the waves and sinking like a stone
I'm sorry son, you're reaping what you've sown"

You're reaping what you've sown

We're slowly losing ground
And hope is harder to maintain
We know the prayers we prayed
Feel lost like tears in the rain
The water is pulling down
The Moon's eclipsing the sun
The ending that we knew would come
Has finally begun
It's finally begun

You're reaping what you've sown
You're reaping what you've sown

This sorrow weighs down on my shoulders
This fear is getting harder to hide
You'll leave me alone in this darkness
Left to hold out
Against the tide

What I adore about this song is the way the instrumentation plays into the idea of an approaching storm:

Piano in the beginning like gentle raindrops in the beginning.
The drums picking up as the storm intensifies.
The crashing symbols and "wooshing" vocals like heavy rain, wind, and waves crashing against the rocks.
And then, we return as the storm passes, to gentle rain once more.

Masterclass instrumental writing.

With or without the lyrics, this is by far one of the best pieces of music I've heard. There's so little music with this depth of emotion, with the ability to pick you up and transform what you're feeling into something that resonates through to the core. I originally found this looking for epic music (Audiomachine, TSFH, etc). In its own way, this fits the genre better than nearly everything else I've heard in it. Nothing can match it. I really wish he had more songs like this, but honestly, I think it's impossible to top.

Ever since I've listened to this song 2 years ago. That moment I knew the way I feel about music changed forever, whenever I listen to any other song from any other type of genre just doesn't give me remotely the same feeling I get when I hear this. It's indescribable, it is perfection in my eyes. This should be what every other artist in the world tries to match in terms of production, emotion and the feeling you get from it. It's just a shame many people in this world don't give stuff like this a go nor do they care about anything that doesn't suit themselves. This is my favorite Celldweller song of all time (at this current point in time with Just Like You/Lost In Time right behind.) At the same time, favorite song of all time, I've listened to many many different artists and this hands down is unparalleled in comparison to those I've heard. Never change Klayton, the world might not care about you but who cares about them.

Crazy how I view this as calming despite the screaming parts.

Celldweller will always be my favorite. <3 Ten years later, and I've never been tired of listening to his music.

This song has the ability to shake me to the very core. It passes feelings to me without loss. Epic masterwork. This can not be topped, but it's just one color of the palette. I hope you, Celldweller will show me some more fascinating pieces of color which I can fit into my palette.
Thank you for this gift. Honestly.

I always have a music video in my head when I hear this. The emotional buildup is out of this world. Overcoming odds, becoming something stronger in the face of something never expected... Stories in song. Love it.

This song is so gorgeous, gets me every time, even after 8 years. I can't tell you how much this song meant to me when my wife and I were going through -- due to outside forces -- the roughest struggle of our marriage, circa 2013. Thank you for that.

No matter how many times I hear this song I always get chills. I will always support Klayton for some of the best music I've ever had the honor of listening to.

The most emotional piece of celldweller's music by far, the first time I heard this, it actually made me cry, breathtaking, Klayton, just breathtaking.

This song has gotten me through so much. I've listened to it during the darkest of darks and it always feels like I'm listening to it for the first time. Thank you klayton even so many years later. You truly are an amazing artist. ❤

2017, never heard about celldweller before, just found it alone.
I can't understand why is this artist so underrated, this is the best music i ever heard and for much more difference, only 148k subs to this channel? this is the kind of things that makes me lose hope in humanity.
This song is amazing, i feel bad for discovering this so late, this song resounded in my soul.
Also, i am from Argentina and i don't know how to speak english very well so forgive if i have any mistakes, keep the good work, Saludos!

Even if you don't like Klayton's style of music, no one can deny that his lyrics are nothing short of awe inspiring. Great song lyrics like this is in such short supply these days, keep them coming and I'll keep listening. Celldweller FTW!
