The Black Keys in Fate were used more of as throwing knives rather than actual swords, They are meant to be disposable and used in large amounts.

They are popular amongst the priests of the Holy Church, Specifically Church Executors because they don’t take up a lot of energy to use and are pretty versatile in situations that require them.

Black Keys in Fate are mostly used like projectiles and not effectively used as melee weapons so priests carry large numbers of them. They are crafted from the holy scriptures and kept inside their pockets when not in use, then the long blade appears when fused with magical energy of the user.

Idk if you're aware but Fate has a lot of characters that uses magic and people from the Church use the black keys to fight mages as their main purpose, on top of being a blade, is to negate magic i.e they can pierce right through any type of magical defenses or spells

Kansho and Bakuya would probabky be the most viable weapons in real life, but their utter lack of a guard makes them a less than idea choice for fighting an armed opponent because blocking and parrying would come with a hefty chance of a lost thumb or fingers
