I knew a boy like this growing up. Mom spoiled him, but not his sister. One day the kids, mom and dad were at a school event (both in middle school) and he hit his sister's best friend who just got out of the hospital. Dad discipline him, mom spoiled him and told him he wasn't grounded. He proceeded to hit a pregnant teacher and the young girl again. In front of a lot of adults who all told the mom off. She didn't back down in protecting her baby. His sister punched him so hard in front of them all. She broke his noise, eye socket and busted his lip. Parents divorced and she and her father never talked to the mom or her brother after that. Last time I saw them, she was married to her best friend and he is in prison for a felony.

Ironically my mother lived next to a family like that out in California (long before I was born) back in the early 60's. The boy loved to stick the water hose in the fence holes and soak my mother. "Water hose, lady, water hose!". I guess he was quite the terror and handful. Only 6 and they werw struggling to keep him in school as public educators just didn't want to deal with him. One afternoon his father was talking to a neighbor in their garage, his hand resting on a workbench top. His son ran over with a Philips screwdriver and drove it into his hand, pinning it to the wood surface. The neighbor was in shock, stunned that the boy's father never cried out, just gritted his teeth and yanked the screwdriver out of his hand. Shortly after that, the guy came home early while his wife was out shopping; packed his things, left a good bye note and didn't return. The state eventually took the kid, he was injuring too many other kids at school and the mom was obvilous to anything wrong with her "baby".
