“Gone in 60 Seconds” looked fine. It was produced back in 2001, and it looks great for its time. Tron tho, was pure uncanny valley nightmare fuel 🫣

"CG wasn't there yet" Correction: Jurassic Park, 1993; Terminator 2, 1991; Contact, 1997; The Fifth Element, 1997... nah, it was there, but the producers were, well, cheap. Practical effects were "aging out" and CG was in, but they didn't realize how expensive CG could get until they sent the check and it was spent on Spawn's eyes/cloak alone lol

I weirdly find bad cgi in movies enduring. Its like a time stamp that shows us where we were in the progress of 3D modeling. The fact that even to this day it doesn't look (completely) real says we get to continue to watch this type of art slowly develop even further.

Ghost Rider's introduction and the Green Lantern suit didn't look so bad to me, but I do agree about your #1 pick. That was extremely awful.

I actually enjoyed all the CGI used in Ghost Rider especially his introduction. Ghost Rider is actually one of my personal favourite Marvel movies.

Hot take: there’s so much bad CGI in super hero films that Green Lantern doesn’t even look that bad now

Funny thing about number 1, is have the DVD and on the back of it says “with breath taking special effects”. I died laughing.

I really don't think the Black Panther/Killmonger fight looks that bad. Kinda shocked to see it on this list

Hear me out here - has anyone seen what an actual shape shifting anthropomorphic scorpion God person looks like in real life? Maybe they really do look like N64 graphics, we just don't know.

Now now. Matrix 2 was the real deal when it came out. And it got highly praised too. You can't judge it now in 2024. The CGI looks as if it came out of a PS2. But then, it was peak

I thought I was the only one that hated the cgi of the Cameos in the movie of "The Flash" because I can't seem to find those people that hated that scene. I mean it was supposed to be beautiful and epic, I want to feel that moment, but I just can't help but notice the cgi specially with Reeves and Cage's Superman.

7:00 what's really bad, this is the "upgraded" effects . The one in theater re-release was just garbage.

that scorpion king scene was saved by the bad guy running into the scene to kneel and yell NYE!

The otherwise solid werewolf movie, "Bad Moon, " was ruined by an infamous CG transformation that is truly difficult to watch.

The updated versio of The Secret Garden had horrible CGI, where the '90's version needn't rely on any CGI, to tell the story.
Take care, and all the best.

In the case of Alien 3, there is only 1 second of CGI in the entire film and that is the scene at the end where the alien cracks before it explodes.
In Alien 3 it is more of a composite of two shots

The question is how much hi-res tvs ruined older cgi effects. With older tvs some of the issues weren't as noticible

The Scorpion King Movie is a well known one. The Rock was not made for CGI 😅
