I love the way you said this, the 8 & 80yo versions of yourself is a great test!

I'm bisexual, and I was terrified when I came out to my grandma. Her exact words were "I love you no matter what. What would you like for dinner?"

I watched my uncle abuse and reject my cousin for being gay growing up. I have 3 sons. If any of them told me they were gay, I would love and support them. I couldn’t imagine letting something like that get in the way of my relationship with my child. As a parent, life it too short. I’m not missing a moment.

Its hard when you have to live with them because financially you have no where else to go. There's a girl I like and she's very open and out there, into kink and things like that. Even if I wanted to pursue a relationship with her, and even if she liked me back, I would have to keep her a secret from my Mum because she wouldn't accept it. I already remember what my Mum was like with my first girlfriend and I'm not going through that again.

Agreed in general. And def as an adult. But as a kid you completely dependent on your parents, they shape your world view, even your concept of yourself. You live in your family's bubble with little chance of understanding any other perspective. Its traumatic, maybe impossible, for a kid to get to a point of enough self awareness to disassociate from those who providing for your every need. Thank god for the internet...i didn't have it growing up

It's true. The only person that is going to take of you is you. Live your life and your truth.

Don’t have kids if you won’t support your kids. It’s as simple as that.

That's easy to say, but it's much harder to live. As someone who was rejected by his family, it has affected every aspect of my life, from career choices to self-esteem to relationships with other.

I'm a lesbian with heavily homophobic Christian parents and I'm terrified to come out

I was watching a show with my mom and my dad walked in and said "LESBIANS?!?", "And it's even worse, they're DATING!". I honestly can't tell if he was joking, cause he says he's not homophobic, but he is.
Now I'm scared to come out to him as bi/lesbian/IDKK.

Yeah, I get what they’re saying. I’m bisexual, and haven’t came out to my dad (my mom will be accepting I think), but I’m just really scared cuz I do love him and he’ll be disappointed in me. And I looked up to my brother and he was my best friend as a kid, but I can guarantee if I told him, he’d stop talking to me completely. Make sure you guys have a safe space to go if you’re planning on coming out to homophobic family.

As if there's any other answer. It's a clash of values. What's happens when two people of differing religions encounters each other and talk to each other but can't agree? They dissociate and self-segregate or they fight it out. It's the human way.

I am gay, and as long as I live with my aunt (who is very homophobic) and anyone of my family who is also homophobic I am not telling a soul. Why ? because they already toxic, they play with like I am rat, who the house cat just killed. So Yeah, but once I am out of here? Dude I am not holding up.

You are really a destroyer of families Anyone who reads these comments if you are a young man be straight treat your parents with love and respect and the parents raised your children in good ways and open the way for them to go back from the mistake What you have to do is live a good life to face God in the afterlife
