Russia, on September 18, said it would support Pakistan’s bid to join BRICS. The announcement was made during Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk's visit to Islamabad. Pakistan foreign minister Ishaq Dar thanked Russia and said Pakistan is extremely grateful for Russian support to its bid for membership of Pakistan as a member of the BRICS."
