Thanks to one of my subscribers Imran who asked about flying the skydio 2 in low light. I went and tested it out and all I can say is please listen to skydio don’t do it, it can and will crash.
The skydio 2 is blind when it is dark. The cameras on the skydio 2 can’t see in the dark and it will crash. Again don’t do it, do not attempt to fly after the sun sets.
If you do then you are taking a risk.

Mark how are you? I have to a question, which one is the RETURN HOME BUTTON? I have not yet used it. Is that look like a home icon? And if you press it, will it return to you automatically?

Great video. Just make sure you have your FAA daylight waver for future videos.

Hey Mark! I came across your feed from the Yes Theory channel/groups!

Your videos are awesome! What I love is that even though I can’t relate to this (I don't have a drone.. but should I get one?!), I still learned a lot and really enjoyed your videos (watched a few hehe)! You have a shining personality and I’m almost sure thats what captivated me!

As for a bit on myself (my name is William!), I started making content with the aim of teaching people to break free of societal norms by seeking discomfort & testing their own limits! A few months after starting, my friends told me to check out this channel called Yes Theory as they said my content reminded them of it.. and like you, I’ve been so inspired by the lifestyle they preach!!

Hope you have an awesome day and you are awesome, keep being you! 😁☝🏻

Can you disable obstacle avoidance? I fly my craft at night as a 107 remote pilot with a 107.29 daylight waiver and proper lighting on board.

Surprised it dropped out of the sky like that. Good thing it was still low to the ground.

If you add infrared lights 360 degrees on top of the drone can it fly in the dark?

Yes, it should have dropped out of the sky. Thankfully you still have intact drone.

Mark, I also send some tweets on SKYDIO, to make it a full phased drone by adding the night flying feature. They will and they will be working on it. We will not have to buy a new drone, it will be just a firmware upgrade ( The App.) By the way, If I have to take a Night Skyline Picture, I will just bring it to the higher altitude, take the picture and bring that back down. Alright, brother. Your video will help lots of Skydio fans.

Wow, that drop from the sky is terrible. Planning a sunset flight today but the more and more I research, the more nervous I get.

Careful, unless you have FAA daylight waver, only can fly 30 minutes past official sunset time (civil twighlight) and within the 30 minutes you are required to have strobes that meet FAA 3 mile visibility requirement. Same is true before sunrise. Knowledge helps community from getting bad press.

Wow! True we shouldn't be flying in the conditions that Skydio warns us about but I agree that there should be a more cautionary landing procedure rather than just dropping. What if you are flying to catch the sunset? The camera is one of the better cameras in this class and it produces some fantastic images, so naturally I would like to possibly catch a sunset. Before sunset it is light enough. The trick is after. And that is the problem because that is the best part of the senset: "golden hour".

I suspect that one of the reasons the Skydio can't fly at night is because it has no compass. So in order to know its orientation it needs to see.

I'm wondering if you would have been able to launch from a parking lot with lots of light and then just pop straight up to get the sunset and then come down and even case land, that you would have been able to have success. Maybe the trick is to have a well lit landing area. Once you get above that lit area the drone may decide to come "emergency land" but I am hopeful that it would then begin to see the ground and land safely.

I think entering a hover state would be better than just rapidly descending. Then you could have time to slowly land it manually by bringing it down possible in a lighted area and land safely.

Thanks for the video!

By the way, I pressed the dislike button twice but my thumbs down went away! So I pressed the like button and my thump went up! Who knew?!!!

Not a fan of landing on the case, prefer catching it ;)
