A replay attack occurs when an unauthorized user captures network traffic and then sends the communication to its original destination, acting as the original sender. To prevent replay attacks you can implement timestamps and sequence numbers.

by sniffing do you mean the network singal is going through them then they pass the network to the server again?

The only difference between replay and man-in-the-middle is the timestamp? So a man-in-the-middle is objectively superior to replay?
