I have a 2023 WRX Base with a manual. I'm glad I got one before they discontinued it and jacked up the prices. I really like it. It's small and agile and the sports suspension is great. I don't think I will ever trust CVT transmissions. I'm really glad that I read up on the do's and don'ts of owning a turbocharged vehicle.

Brought 2024 Outback Touring XT last July. I went to Las Vegas from Ogden Utah. I get 29.7 mpg (462 miles) on cruise control with one fill up tank and two stops. My normal average is 24 to 25 mpg. I previously own 2 Legacy, 2 Outback 2.5 and Forester 2.5. It's my first turbo and I love it. I thought about Wilderness, but I must have cool seat and digital rear-view mirror.

I loved all of my past Subaru wagons (1995, 2009, 2012) but I love my Volvo XC70 T6’s more (2009, 2015).

Would love to get a Crosstrek turbo. Won't get pushed into an Outback just for the engine.

not enough people talk about how this thing is comparable to the WRX in terms of speed. A sleeper in the category i feel. definitely a fast wagon.

If/when you hear whether or not the ‘26 Outback Wilderness (redesign?) will/will not be offered in a hybrid-turbo configuration, please pass that info along so I can decide if I’m going to trade in my ‘24 Outback Limited XT and buy one. I would love to have the Wilderness, but really want better gas mileage for long trips. And I’m assuming that configuration would likely bump the horsepower as well? Thanks again for another great overview!

I have owned a 2024 Outback limited XT since January. I’m not all that fond of it. It is pretty noisy, especially on the highway. It seems to rev for no reason and the seats are not that comfortable on long trips. Just my experience though.

Did you say there is a lift kit that the deal can install? I’ve never heard of such a thing.

I have a 24 WRX Limited with stock tires. I don’t really have the room to store winter tires. What are the best all seasons to get, in your opinion. I live in northern Indiana. Thanks.

Is there any information that you can give on the next generation Outback Wilderness; such as powertrain and dimensions? I currently have a 2012 Outback Limited with a 3.6 6 cylinder engine; and it has been a virtually trouble-free.

I found out they use different AC compressors

Would frankly not be driving a Subaru if it weren't for turbo availability. Only outright dogs were the '14 and '17 Forester XT's with the then new 2.0 FA turbo (one had valve problems, the other ate sparkplugs - neigher accelerated well on hills and both fouled their tailpipes with soot. not so the 2.4T).

So, are you getting another 5th Gen 4R? Ha!! I'm still wavering. Although, the deals that could be had many months ago are gone. Dealers know they have the last of them.

I wonder if WRX drivers drive them hard. Around here i noticed the WRX drivers are mostly younger drivers.

That is not the turbo Subaru you need, the wilderness makes no sense. It does poorly off-road and gets bad milage. They are not old enough for cct issues tonpop up, but the 4.44 diffs should cause issues with the severe conditions load being brought down to like 45mph.

Everyone responsible and who does maintenance on time needs a gm era one. If you can get an old legacy outback XT or legacy gt with a vtd center diff they smoke any of the SUVs off-road.

I avoided the turbo outback and got a 2.5 for 2 reasons. The turbo model has the highest transmission failure rates, and it limits off road capability by limiting slip more than non turbo models.

they're noisy and they get lousy mileage
and the likelihood is that they'll self-destruct in less than 150k miles
