Lets go over the future of star wars as a franchise and president of lucasfilm kathleen kennedy and writer and director rian johnson, we will also lightly touch on star wars episode 9. With star wars the last jedi receiving a ton of negativity months after its release it leaves us questioning on if we will see the skywalker family again in the future on the big screen.

Ok. There are many, MANY times I defended the Disney canon. But that is just ridiculous. The mainline films are the Skywalker films. That is the common thread that links them all. Even in the sequel trilogy, linked through Kylo Ren, Luke and Leia. If you're telling me we are getting into a series of Star Wars mainline films where there aren't any Skywalkers any more... It will have lost a large part of its charm. One thing I loved about Star Wars was the continuity of the family. In Phantom Menace, we have a kid Anakin, and in The Last Jedi (full of sins), we have his son that is OLD, along with his freaking GRAND SON ruling the First Order. It was always interesting throughout the films to see how the story of one small boy on Tatooine, growing up as a slave with his mother, ended up being so important. And not just himself, but the rest of his family, too.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Star Wars content that is outside of the mainline films that feature non-Skywalker characters as the protagonists (Rogue One, and the most important episodes of Rebels for example...). But that's what they are - outside of the mainline films. The whole reason why I watch / read them in the first place is because I love its universe. But for the mainline films, I want to see the Skywalkers' story, even if they aren't the protagonists necessarily (looking at you, Sequel Trilogy).

*Last Jedi spoilers*

So, if future films go on without the Skywalkers... well it's just a goddamn shame. And considering Kylo Ren is the last Skywalker alive as of the end of The Last Jedi (well, there's Leia, but considering Carrie Fisher's death, she probably will die in between TLJ and Episode IX), and he doesn't even hold the name Skywalker (he is a Skywalker by blood only), I would not be surprised if he ends up dying in IX. If that happens, the Skywalker bloodline would be finished, and Kathleen Kennedy will have won.

Fuck, now I genuinely want Reylo to be a thing, just because it would be a potential for a continuation of the bloodline, I suppose. But nah. Kathleen Kennedy will probably kill him off, and the Skywalkers will be a thing of the past. The question becomes - should we really let the past die, kill it? (in this case, at least) After all there are things that are good to let go. But here, we are talking about the essence of Star Wars (in my opinion). So I believe it is a question worth asking.

See, this is the time when she needs to step down because she is not representing the fans of star wars. Ryan said he was a devout fan, yet he made decisions that went against 90% of the fan base. Now Kathleen is not taking into consideration what fans want. Saving luke for the last movie and having him die there is 3rd grade level story plot that a kid could tell you....its common sense yet somehow, disney is hiring people that get the easiest decisions wrong
