The "modern audience" really never existed. The Disney Star Wars stans are fringe, and I guess is what they claim is the "modern audience".

The Force Awakens was positive in that it was star wars, it was horrible in every other way in that it was Episode 6 but bad. So much EU lore was just destroyed... decanonize the acolyte and sequels :/ On top of all of this, the most prime absolute PEAK opportunity to introduce a new and cool character was missed in the last episode of S2 Mandalorian: Kyle Katarn. It still doesnt make sense to me that he was a master at luke's academy and also destroyed the dark trooper program and yet in the midst of all the dark troopers he doesnt show up. The only negative to an otherwise outstanding movie (Rogue One) would be the sheer lack of dead bonthan spies.
