Moscow cabbie says he hit the wrong pedal when ploughing into crowd

The taxi driver who drove into a crowd of pedestrians near Red Square in Moscow, Russia on June 16 told the police that he pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake. Video of an interview with the driver was published on the Moscow police website the following day. The incident caused injuries to seven people.

Well, I think the russians know very well that It was done deliberately, and told him exactly what to say to avoid panic during the WC, they will make this man dessappear afterwards. Very sad for the supporters injured and for the familly of this man, ..he made a very bad decision by doing this .. I'm sad

He tried to hit those people. He steered and accelerated into the largest concentration of people. Otherwise he would have just hit the pole if it was not deliberate.

It can easily be found out whether it was intentional act or not by checking his personal belongings, his routes of traveling for past few days, hours spent in the taxi the day he hit people. He might be avoiding hitting the front car so he turned, sometime it can happen if you hit the speed instead of brakes and you have few second decision to avoid collision. His first priority could be to avoid hitting the front car and first reaction could be to avoid n turn, but you never know what was really in his mind. I think once full check ups are done, the story will unfold.

This was an intentional attack on civilians, he deliberately turned the steering wheel right, and accelerated over the curb and without slowing continued into the pedestrians!....only a steel pole caused the car to stop!, and the driver was running away afterwards. This is terrorism no matter what the Russian state try to pretend it to be….this is not a traffic accident !

Most people will jump to conclusion that he is guilty based on personnel bias and mistrust. I personally have actually had an extremely similar accident a few years ago. I was coming off of a super long shift and was totally exhausted. The car in front of me started to slow down and I went to hit the brakes, but accidentally hit the gas. I was lucky he was not too close, but I swear I was less than an inch from rear ending the guy. I can’t say that this guy is telling the truth, but his story is actually very possible.
