Millyard Viper 8 Litre V10 Motorcycle - Part 1

In this video i show you around my Millyard Viper V10 motorcycle that I made in 2009. The engine is an 8000cc pushrod V10 from a 1995 Dodge Viper GTS super car with around 500bhp. I have ridden the bike over 9000 miles on the road including trips to the Isle of Man and Guernsey and over 200 mph at Bruntingthorpe proving ground. Motorcycle News test rider Bruce Dunn did 207.101mph and telemetry showed a linear acceleration from zero to 207mph with no curve around 180mph which is usual for motorcycles due to increasing air resistance. The bike weighs 630kg with 10 gallons of petrol in the tank and has a range of around 180 miles at legal road speeds.

I find it oddly heartwarming to see that a man capable of building these fantastic machines is also juvenile enough to install a backfire switch on an eight litre V10 bike.

There would be no wars on Earth if every man had a passion like Mr Millyard has.

I still to this day cannot fathom how a single, well-spoken, pleasant man built all of these beautiful machines that'll make any mecha-head and motorhead drool over, all in his shed...

You, Allen, is why I chose to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and are a source of endless inspiration in life.

Pure genius. Particularly admiring the exhaust heat shielding - many would have given up long before that stage.

the amount of work and ideas (the heat shield from the fake coals, the backfire switch) is simply unbelievable!!!
you deserve to be knighted !!
Sir Allen Millyard :)

I've met this bloke and seen some of his bikes. He is an engineering genius. He totally thinks outside the box. Nothing is impossible seemingly, for him.

“Oh and I added a switch to make it backfire”. Of course you did, you are Allen Millyard.

Too many genius ideas on this to even begin!

It's honestly not often a YouTube video blows my mind but the engineering on this is utterly amazing. Beautiful work, Allen.

The only time in my life that a centre/ side stand is interesting to look at
Excellent 💪

I grew up in Coventry surrounded by quiet, unassuming guys like Allen who just made stuff in their sheds - fixed cars, bikes and encouraged my “have a go” attitude to mechanics. So glad there are still people like this in the world...

When I watch these videos I am dumbfounded that someone has constructed this and its not a store-bought item. The ingenuity, craftsmanship, knowledge and time that has gone into these builds is incomprehensible, and the videos just keep coming. The small touches like the ratcheting kick stand on this are really above and beyond - they show its not a showroom piece but something that's built to be ridden. Allen, I am in awe of your skills, commitment and humility and I am delighted every time a new video comes. Please keep these videos coming and I can't wait to see what's in store next.

I wasn’t expecting the backfire demonstration so suddenly, you caught me off guard with that 😂

Shaking my head all through this video. Jaw dropping designing and fabricating, not to mention the artfulness of the finished product.

Early-on in my now-frequent viewing of Allen's absorbing videos, I took him for a shed-bound nerd, eloquent only at expounding one of his elegant engineering solutions. How very wrong of me. He has a sweetly-turned - and very dry - wit that he uses most often to poke fun at himself. A true human being.

Alan Millyard is an absolute genius, why 1 of the big bike companies never snapped him up decades ago I just don’t know. Also a nicer guy you could never meet . Living legend .

"Hello, is that Allen Millyard... NASA here, we'd like to buy some heat shielding from you...". As ever Allen, you continue to amaze with your ingenuity.
