What cracked me up about tales of the wedding rings was the MC being repeatedly told the power of the rings is drawn from his relationships with the wives, deliberately refusing to develop his relationships with anyone but the childhood friend and then later wondering why the rings weren't powerful enough to stop the evil enemy

Ryoko Kui is so masterful in making Dungeon Meshi's characters that I felt like they were long time friends after like two chapters of the manga and the anime is just frosting on the cake. They're so instantly lovable and friend shaped.

I read the first few chapters of Dandadan before the anime dropped and the scene that absolutely sold me on Science Saru's vision was at the end of the episode, when Okarun told Momo his name. In the manga, you see Momo's shock and fluster, but in the anime the sparks *literally* fly as the ship explodes behind her. Absolute masterclass of visual storytelling in a single moment.

Can confirm the Ranma 1/2 appealing to a new generation - my husband and I watched it in college and I started watching the reboot with my teen in the room. It went from "ugh, a Mom show" to "You can't watch the next episode without me!" in like two episodes. I was worried about a remake but I love the new pacing and the romance is a lot cuter.

Having Aoi Yuuki voice Maomao was a fantastic choice for Apothecary Diaries. She's so good at talking to herself and if you want more of it, she also voices the MC in "So I'm a Spider, So What?".

Gushing Over Magical Girls also includes a scene where it's revealed that one of the magical girls got recruited onto the team when the other magical girls discovered her beating a monster to death with a brick, so that's fun

20:50 I disagree on that point. Part of what makes their interactions so great is the absolute _absence_ of romantic tension on Mao Mao’s side. The fact that Jinshi’s feelings are so hopelessly one-sided while his crush is unflinchingly poisonsexual makes the whole thing that much funnier (and occasionally creepier when Jinshi goes overboard). And god it’s so refreshing to have a female protagonist whose goals in life do not include romance or marriage.

You can really feel how much you love anime, I literally have to take a break. I’m 20 minutes in and haven’t watched any of these except apothecary diaries but the emotional toll of hearing you talk about these beautiful incredible anime is so heavy that it overwhelmed me. You sir are a master orator and I want to watch all of these now
