GoPro Hero 9 Backscreen will not turn on

this video is for the people at GoPro to figure out what is going on with my latest action camera. I love using GoPro cameras for my running but it is a little hard to figure out what I'm doing when the back screen will not turn on. I did two updates with the camera one through the GoPro app on my phone and the second one through the manual download and installing via the SD card. neither update worked to fix the back screen.

If you change the battery and it is not for a go pro 9 (example 12) the back screen will not turn on. This could happen if you bought different/additional batteries. I just inserted the go pro 9 battery back in, and the back screen in my Gopro now works. I was using the hero 12 battery and the Enduro white battery and these will keep your back screen in the dark. Hope this helps.

I will never understand how this company has managed to continue being in business. I’ve owned a 3, two 7hero blacks, and a 9hero black that now has no rear screen like yours.
Between the over heating and shutting down, freezing up without any notice, touch screens that won’t function to the touch, I’m NEVER buying another one.
With extra chargers, batteries, media mods, microphones, and all the little extras for clamping it, sticking it, and mounting it to everything under the sun, There’s a couple grand tied up in this company.
Maybe others aren’t having the issues I’m having but sadly, the oldest one is the only one that functions correctly but the picture is terrible 😂.
Please SOMEBODY invent something that works!! 😃

Please accept this In 1st place, Go pro 7 was the better one, Never buy any go pro henceforth
, Go pro 9 as followed by most of the users are having same issues, i replaced my GP9 just when warranty is 3 months away to end, (issue with it, it wasnt turning on with power button hence had to plug in & out batteries to make it work) Now the replacement was done a week before it has new problem, back screen goes dark just like most of them in comment section, although front screen works fine to display, just that on back screen if you swipe up screen digitizer responds. STOP BUYING GO PRO, UNNECESSARY HEADACHE when it doesnt work when required.

I have the opposite problem. Front screen is blank. Constant struggle with GoPro's clunky interface as well. These problems always seem to pop up when I don't have time for a dev drilldown into the GoPro to try to fix.

Take the battery and SD card out and then plug in the charger.. Power it up, should work! I was having the same issue but it's now sorted

I just update the camera as it’s keep messaging me to update ! Just after that my back screen not turning on! It was all good before that !!

I have this problem but with the front screen it all of a sudden stopped working and it was only my 3rd time using the camera.

I just had this happen to me. I was hiking and didn't have the time to figure it out. When I got home I just removed the battery and put it back in, started it up and it was fine. I hadn't used my GoPro in a while so it did an update.

Same issue here, back screen suddenly stopped working, stays dark, only front screen works, of course that happened outside of my 2 year warranty... so they just didnt care to help me... well, 90% sure that was the last GoPro I ever bought... I can still use it, but its super limited, I control it with the GoPro remote which still allows me to switch some specifics in the modes, but I have to film "blind" I have a DJI Osmo Action 4 now, but I still enjoy the gopro saturation more than the videos that the Osmo Action can film, and the Action sadly also has a shittier memory usage at the same settings.
