The Sony A7III is a beast! I was wrong!

I'm upgrading from the a6500 to it. I have wanted to get into full frame and was never sure when I would but after this release it's a no brainier. Plus it has APS-C mode so I can use my crop sensor lenses and not have that border. I can't keep both but the week it's released I'm on it ASAP. I will probably also pick up the song 85mm 1.8 as well.

Makes more sense for you than a Canon user as you already have Sony glass. and unless you like to collect cameras or keep it as a backup.. you don't have need for the II which you can always re-buy used at a later time for an even bigger savings..

Have you looked at the later version minolta D lenses for the focus.

Everybody seems to think A7III has same AF system as A9 - it does not. It has the same AF points array and coverage, but the killer feature of the A9 is the stacked sensor and it's amazing readout speed. It can do 60 AF/AE calculations per second, with the electronic shutter scanning at 1/160th of a second. Which means blackout free 20fps with no rolling shutter and more confident and reliable AF, even in low light. For $2000 A7III is a great bargain, but if you do pro sports or wildlife, A9 is simply better. For mortals, A7III will do fine. And the $2500 saved is the cost of the 70-200 f/2.8 GM lens.

2 stacks is a grate deal for all you get but now I can go full frame with the 7ii when it drops to 1k.
Now all Sony needs to do is come out with the s3 with same specs as the gh5 for video and add the screen that moves to the side and Sony will kill it crazy big

Wait, so does the A7III have the same AF system as the A9 or does it have similarities in the 693 PD points? I never thought the A7III would be able to focus as fast and as well as the A9. Please advise.

100% correct the market must hold you back. Digital camera’’s need processors same like top phones. 4 K must be easy to do with the newest processors. Now Sony gets serious :-) IPhone X is Just a toy Same processor IPhone 8. Hope we can call soon with the Sony A 7 mark 4 ;-)
