One thing I noticed is that in the book (or maybe just the comic) coralline and the cat are trying to get away from the other house. When this happens, they end up right where they started, and the cat explains this by saying if you walk around the world, you’ll end up at the same spot. Coraline takes a note of this and says small world, and the cat then says ‘a spiderweb only needs to be big enough to catch flies’

Things you might have known or not known about coraline.

1. In the other world you can see the little boy on the picture holding his ice cream, but in the original world the little boy dropped his ice cream.

2. In the other world coraline had a cake saying. “Welcome home!” But an double loop is an lie which means she’s welcomed but she’s not home.

3. the fathers song represents an warning *warnings* *peach* means that the other mother is going to eat her *doll* the mother has brought an doll to coraline to track her *eyes on coraline* means that the buttons are going on coralines eyes.

*scary fact* did you know when coraline first went in the portal to stay she slept instead? Which means she’s trapped in

My theory is that everything in the other world is bug related because Coraline and all the other children represent bugs. I think the souls make up the world, and give the other mother her power, as every time a soul is found by Coraline the world freezes up, so the reason everything in the world is related to bugs is because it is made up of the “bugs” power.
I also kind of think that the cat is a traitor, because when Coraline doesn’t have the doll the cat may be reporting back to the other mother. Maybe in return, the cat gets some of the other mothers power and later in the film when the other world collapses, all the power goes to the cat which gives him the ability to disappear behind the sign in the real world.

edit: oop wait I have another theory. What if the children’s eyes harness the power of the world? The marbles coraline collects are the kids eyes, and the button eyes are just and excuse to get the childrens eyes.
