Almeda Fire Recovery 2022 - SO PBS SRL Club

The Almeda Fire ripped through two towns in Southern Oregon (Phoenix-Talent) on September 9th, displacing many families with school age children. Phoenix-Talent Schools (PTS) lost more than 700 students due to displacement and have partnered with the cities of Talent, Phoenix, and various community organizations to try to bring back many of these families and their students. This digital news short, produced by fire affected student reporters at SO PBS, investigates the status of fire recovery, especially as it relates to displaced students and families, in 2022 nearly two years after the fire.
