Detroit Diesels on vintage buses

preview_player
Показать описание
Sound comparison of a newer Detroit Diesel engine found on 90's buses vs the original 2-stroke that has been on many GM products including trucks and buses since the mid 1940's after the war.

Comment on what generation you prefer.

A later video of a 6V71N from 4612 and an extra loud 6V92TA with the interior bulkhead off from 4107.

Nothing beats the sound of a 2 stroke Detroit

Learned to drive on a 1948 TDH 4509 so I’d have say a 6-71 or 8-71. Operated a fleet of 8-71s for over 40 years; don’t miss the oil stains all over the yard, though.

I prefer the sound of the original two strokes. 6V53 was used on french buses in the 70's.

Where I am, the buses used Detroit 6V-92 engines.A very distinctive sound indeed.

I'd have to go with the engine I grew up hearing: Series 50! One of the best sounding engines in the world.
