We install a tachometer on a Detroit Diesel 8v71 in a vintage bus. The bus did not come with a tachometer so we wired one up and tested it with an inexpensive digital non-contact tachometer.

Reminds me of using a timing gun to adjust ignition timing.

Hi! Just found your channel today and have subbed...I found the gauges and harnesses videos very interesting! Being a retired veteran [since 2015] of the trucking industry for 38 years I'm sure you can guess why! As a side note, I will be returning to the road FULL TIME very shortly!! ....My rules, NO schedule, NO destination (except West!), NO boss, NO d.o.t. cops, NO shippers and consignees, NO log books, and, NO weigh stations! I'm very excited, but, yet sort of paranoid leaving my stick and bricks to live in a 2017 high top van for the rest of my life...and, being 65 years old doing it...have I lost my mind? Lol!! I will be binge watching your videos to get caught up! They are very interesting!

You put the reflective tape on the cam pulley, I believe. It's not a harmonic balancer.
