Artificial intelligence is about to expand in a very big way. AI controlled machines may take over manufacturing, military, scientific, and even Artistic Endeavors. Today's video is mostly about my predictions for the future of AI. I’ve been saying that in the next 10 years (conservative estimate) AI is going to show us humans today something that would be equivalent to us showing an iPhone to someone from the 1700s. It’ll be something absolutely mind-boggling, so I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be, but that’s my prediction.

Hey Drift, if you continue making videos about AI and want an expert opinion I’m happy to chat. I’m a long time sub, though haven’t been around much in the last few years. I transitioned into working in AI Safety about 2 years ago, and recently I’ve been doing technical research. I follow AI progress fairly closely and have thought a lot about the future, and things like those you talk about in this video. Personally I’ve found these topics very complex and it definitely has helped me to be in a community of others thinking clearly about this; that’s not something I know how to replicate well, but I would be happy to call with you to discuss various things if you want. A possible thought: if we are in an S shaped curve inflection point of AI advancement, then saying what would happen “if we were to continue our current pace” almost sounds like linear regression, which would be off the mark by quite a bit I imagine.

The threat of corporate controlled AI is a scary one. My question is: How would anyone "control" a truly advanced AGI?

I don't believe AGI will be possible to control, but I don't believe that to be a bad thing. We are creating our successor.

21:50 for sure. There is billions upon billions of profit in ai, and we all know what means. Thats why an edicational (and opinionated) video is important. We all have to know the dangers. And we have to put politicians in power who knows as well. Fat chance you might say, but just rolling over will not tame the tsunami.

My prediction no 11: Old fashinioned news media will make a comeback. People will hunger for well reserched news and background views that can be trusted. Trust will be the key entity.
