Should you buy a Casio F91W?

It is know to be one of the best affordable watches available. But should you actually buy one?

The F-91W to me is the quintessential watch all watch lovers and collectors have to have. If you don't know the F-91W then you don't know watches.

I bought mine from our official store in the UK for £10.99 which is about $21 Australian dollars and the watch is amazing in every aspect. Most importantly the time keeping is very accurate, my f91w gains about 7 seconds a month. I love digital positive display.

I'm a proud owner of a historical piece, Casio never let you down and your bank never breaks. I strongly recommend this watch, you won't be disappointed.

Your F91w still have "u" markings below RESIST label....WHY casio removed this marking in their new released units....can anybody tell me/us....thank you....

You should check out the Casio GMAS2100 series for your wife (smaller version of the GA2100 "Casioak"). They're gorgeous, especially the all white one IMO.

I brought the f91 & the f84.
Not sure how the pin came out ...in my experience those pins are really in there, needing sufficient pressure to push them out.

I was thinking of getting one but went with the A168 instead. Same size, but, I like the looks better and the light is MUCH better. I have a 7inch wrist, and it does seem a little small, but I think it still fits. My grab and go watch.

Have you considered the possibility of being a fake f91?
I'm no expert but comparing to my own f91 (which is 10 years old so maybe the differences are because of that) yours seen to have a much stronger with different tone backlight
the "CASIO" font also seem to be a bit "rounder".
I don't know how it is in Australia, but here in Brazil there are a lot of fake F91, and the biggest tell is that almost all of them have super fast modules

F91 is great for a child's first watch, wearing as a second watch attached on the "main" watch strap (GMT baby!) or when you really want it in your collection.
For other cases.... when you really want to wear a small watch, imo F105 is way better solution (one of them... plenty more of course). In my country is just 3.5Euro more expensive than a F91.

Yeah, I'm not a fan at all. I don't really love digital watches in general but I'd go for the 1200 WAY the 91 or the W217 if you want something that looks more like the F91W but a bigger and clearer display and a radically better light feature. They also are both super lightweight. Basically if you can easily lift a couple lbs/1Kg without discomfort, you can likely deal with the very slightly added weight and they are only two to 2.5 times as expensive and are just... a lot better value in my opinion. As I said, I don't really enjoy digital watches so I'd go for a Casio EF100D as a beater or the slightly smaller 110D.

I am pretty sure that you got a fake F91W. First of all, accuracy of a genuine one is 20/30 seconds per month, second the pin falling after a few wearings, third of all that light you show in the video is WAY too strong for a genuine F91W 😂.
Casio F91W is a huge LEGEND and it has to be in any serious watch (not only CASIO) collection - but try finding a genuine one, not a fake. Because, by the way, it is one of the most faked models. Good luck!

The Casio W217 imo is the F91 for the 21st century. Still small and very light at 32 grams, but slightly larger so it doesnt look silly on a man's wrist. The display digits are larger and easier to read, and the light actually works. You can also get it in a negative display. The A168 is okay, but its too small to be a mans watch and the digits are still too small.

I've been looking for a retro digital, but knew I wouldn't wear an f91w. Too small and I don't like resin straps. I bought an Armitron Sport retro for £29 full stainless case and bracelet, looks good and works well. It has 50m WR too, but the backlight is poor.

10 min?! Send it back. Or your wife cycled through the modes a couple of times and zeroed the seconds. Unheard of really.

As to watch itself, if you want closest possible to F91 aesthetics, get the W217. Same functions, better WR, bigger in every dimension. Or W218, looks similar to GShock square. Same functions as F91, like W217 better WR and backlight. Or even W219, looks like GShock 6900 series. All of this if your wrist is seven inches or larger. The F91 looks comically small nowadays and is totally outdated in WR and backlight. The previously mentioned models are just a couple of dollars more and will fit better on most people.

The F91 is great and nostalgic. But there are better from Casio. I dont buy watches to display, but to wear. If for display, then yes worth it, for a child, fine. To wear? No. Some things are best left in the past and the F91 is one of them.

I think there is too much hype on cheap Casios, both F91W and AE1200. I also do not get the idea of modding. Why would anyone throw 5 times or more money into a cheap watch? It is the tool you throw away when broken. Modding is is like painting forks you use to move manure. Nah.
