Which one should you buy? Casio G-shock Mudmaster GWG-2000 vs GWG-1000

In today's video I'm reviewing one of Casio's hottest releases last year: The G-Shock GWG-2000 Mudmaster. An incredibly beautiful piece (by G-shock standards) that you absolutely need in your "tough" collection. In addition, I also got the chance to compare it to the previous Mudmaster model, the GWG-1000-1A3. Just purchased the gwg 1000 and put my Rolex submariner in the closet. In my opinion it looks much better than the gwg 2000. You made the right decision!

As a tradesman I love my GWG1000-1A3, A year wearing it grinding, working with dust and concrete, working on the car, it bashes against walls and metal and is unphased, the saphire protection was the selling point for me, flawless in any environment! The resin has some scuffs but hardly noticeable and that's what it's there for 😉
If I were to buy the GWG2000 I would buy the stealth black fyi

I needed a new rugged all-around watch and I was deciding between this new GWG-2000 and older GWG-1000, which I saw on my friends wrist and was amazed. I decided to get a new GWG-2000-1A3 but I returned it the same day. Then I was lucky enough to find older GWG-1000-1A3 on stock for good price the next day. The difference between GWG-2000 and GWG-1000 is like night and day. Older GWG-1000 model is better, according to my opinion in following areas:
1. Wrist comfort: Old GWG-1000 is much more comfortable on my wrist. The newer 2000 has smaller footprint on the bottom part and it has these edges, that stick out more opressing my wrist bone to the level of discomfort - this was main deal braker for me.
2. Dial visiblity: Worse on newer GWG-2000, less white color on dials, more grey, smaller dial, time zones in inner part distracts readability of the clock.
3. The looks: This is subjective but for me new GWG-2000 looks more toy-like, 1A3 has too much busy colors, it has less presence on the wrist, too thin (easily dissapears under sleeve), for me it didn't feel like a Mudmaster flagship.

I just purchased the 1000 for use when outdoors/fishing/hiking. I purchased it due to it's functions in the event I end up spending more time in the woods than I thought and its durability. It dwarfs my wrist BUT I didn't purchase this beast for it's looks I purchased it to potentially save my life (solar, compass, barometer in the event I end up turned around and lost) my other watches can handle the fashion statements. I love it. Once you go G-Shock you'll never go back.

The thing that gets me about the 2000 is the lack of all-white hour markers, unlike the 1000 which has very visible and prominent markers. This adds to the legibility and visual symmetry of the 1000.

I have the gwg1000 1aer ( green strap model) but ordered the yellow strap from Japan, very happy with it 3 years later. Still prefer this model over the gwg2000 which doesn't look as good or premium to me

Great video, and watches. Last year I bought the GW-9500 Mudman, with the positive display, but it still not the best legibility, but after all I didn't return the watch, but I was looking for another mud resistant watches and last week I found a good deal on the GWG 1000 - 1A3ER with the green strap, and compared to the GWG 2000 the legibility and the lume is better. I also like the fact that the crystal is more recessed and protected. But the backlight and the lcd display is better on the new 2000 mudmaster. I was curious about the new rangeman, I like the MIP display, but it is more like a fitness watch, with that charging cable in the box. I'm very happy with the GWG 1000. 👍👍👍

Great review! The GWG-2000 with the green strap was my least favourite, although it started as my favourite and is still a nice looking watch. I was having a hard time trying to decide between the other two. After watching many reviews showing the two watches I preferred, I eventually chose and bought one. I genuinely think that the GWG-1000 and the GWG-2000 are both fantastic watches! If you are looking to buy one, you are lucky because you get to choose between two fantastic models. Some will prefer the more rugged look of the GWG-1000 and others will prefer the more expensive look of the GWG-2000 with its stainless steel bezel and carbon. If you love both and definitely want to buy both, you might want to get the GWG-1000 first, before they are all gone, and then save to get the GWG-2000 (retail price £699) or the limited edition GWG-2000TLC-1A Toyota Land Cruiser Tie Up, (retail price £779) that was inspired by the Dakar Rally. I bought the GWG-2000-1A5ER at the beginning of November 2021, because I found it at such a great bargain price I couldn’t resist. I keep thinking about the GWG-1000 as I love the rugged look of it, and If I can find one at a great (bargain) price in the January sales, I will probably buy one.

The designer of the GS is right there with the great honda yamaha bmw of the 90's this guy (I had his name once) deserves a big fat pension & salary, when you can't make up your mind & you go for days looking at them & still can't make up your mind, you nailed it Casio ..genius

I had the gwg1000 but sold it because of the poor visibility of the digital readout. Currently have the gwg2000 and love it. Digital readout is much better and illumination is great. Great fit as well. Both watches were in the "tactical" gray.

For me the GWG-1000 im a huge ALIENS fan and it just looks like out of the films universe! Jim Cammeron used even the Casio Pulse meter for the movie back then! The OD green the yellow the design is damn cool!

I was initially planning to get the GWG-2000, but ended up not getting it.

Despite some improvements over the OG Mudmaster, I didn't like the Sapphire Glass crystal sticking out more than it needs to.

Also, the dial itself is noticeably smaller and feels more cramped, as the cities bezel is on the inside.

The use of stainless steel on the bezel feels like a very odd choice for this type of watch, like it's trying to be like the Frogman, despite lacking a metal case.

I decided to get the GWG-1000 instead, and I have no regrets whatsoever, because I know I made the right choice.
