In this lesson, we will discuss the method to solve quadratic equations in algebra when we know that the quadratic is a "perfect square". This means that the variable is on one side of the equal sign and is contained in a single squared term.

In order to solve perfect square quadratic equations like this, we simply need to take the square root of both sides of the equation.

The ideas presented in this video clip are super important for students going into calculus and beyond.

very good teacher. I was not good at math at all. I took intro algbra in a community college in 1994 teacher says don't ask her any question. and every one will fail this class. then I took math class in 2011. I drop it they time you on your home work had answer each question in 2min. if you go over 2min they mark it wrong.

As the teacher said there's no real number you can square to get -3. But complex numbers can be used to solve for the square root of negative numbers. The solutions for x^2 = -3 would be x = i√3 and x = -i√3.

Can there be a 2d graph of an equation where theres just an x or is the y implied when theres a function shown? I have a blind spot for math with functions, i can fake through some problems without understanding but i cant articulate why functions are used instead of y sometimes

Why do you put a half bracket on the left side of your answer?

Say A is the answer. You conclude by saying [ A. Why Jason?

I don't think complex roots help us in drawing a parabola where as the real roots does.
