Equanimity: The Gifts of Non-Reactive Mindful Presence, with Tara Brach [2021-03-02]

If we want to bring our intelligence, creativity and love into our relationships and world, we need to be able to access an inner refuge of presence. This talk explores how, when we’re reacting from anger, clinging or fear, to pause, reconnect to the immediate experience of “just this” and remember the love and awareness that has room for the changing waves of life.

We all are very essential for our humanity and our diversity and our creativity through our heart's knowledge and experiences. It is so important that we find the joy of our lives and we can cooperate with each other and learn from this process of understanding that we are witnessing a worldwide birth of a new way of being connected with heart felt energies and empathetic engagement. It is so sweet to be here now and to learn from our shared experiences and focusing on what we love.

Dear Tara, listening to you in the early morning, lying in my bed, sounds of birds singing, feeling peace. I'm recovering from a recent illness that had me feeling weak, anxious, angry. Your voice speaking to my heart is so soothing, calming, peaceful, reassuring Deepest bow 🙏🙏🙏❤

Wonderful how there is this intersection of wisdom, a skein of truth that winds itself through the mystical side of the different faith traditions and indigenous understandings. I am not Buddhist but I appreciate so much what you teach Tara. You are a precious jewel.

Its a dense time to hold space, but you managed to disperse this energy with a gentle conviction and consistency born of true love for existence ✨ 💕

Without the Internet, droves of people would not know about you, Tara. I have so much more equanimity now that I listen to you, Mooji, Eckhart and others who have taught us to simply “be.” Also, as an artist and writer, the Internet has connected me to people all over the planet, which has taught me how different people can be, and at the same time, alike. And I’ve met real soul mates - relationships that have lasted, with joy, for years. I consider the Internet a treasure trove. Yes, it’s problematic, but that’s life. You can be Internet free and yet “addicted” to McDonald’s, Diet Coke, fashion, news, having to have the “latest” of whatever is always being offered to us commercially in n and off the Internet. I agree we have to learn to limit and “recover” our spiritual selfhood. I’ve been learning to pause and observe from you, here, on the Internet. It’s serving me well. Internet-bashing absolves us individually. It’s up to us to temper our addictions. I believe Internet “fatigue” will set in and we will wake up to handle it with equanimity, each in our own way, and find ways to limit it. This too shall pass.

Thank you, Tara! Coming back to presence is very healing for me… even if (and at most times it does) brings strong and life-threatening old fears. I yearn to feel them, so they can finally start moving through my body and so that I can heal. Your talks gave me (and still are giving) the necessary tools to face them and let them be :-) I invite Mara for tea more and more. Thank you

Thank you, thank you for this topic. It’s like my prayers have been answered on how I’ve become compulsively addicted to the Internet, independent media news, social media, emails and texts and it keeps me in a destructive trance. I’ve seen how this relationship to the Internet has kept me disconnected from presence and awareness. I notice my breathing feels like I’m holding my breath as I get triggered on the “truthful” not mainstream news. As a political and environmental activist my limbic system is hijacked, daily, under the current and previous administration. Even an hour after yoga or meditation I will see I get pulled back into a new independent media show or something on social media or texts. I reached a point this last week where I felt the Internet had more control over me than I have of myself. To the degree I signed off of social medial yesterday and told my friends I’m taking a break for a few months before I heard this talk. The timing of this powerful talk is a gift. Thank you 🙏🏼❤️☮️✨

With the passing of Thich Nhat Hanh, I've become so grateful for teachers like Tara, Jack Kornfield, and others. I enjoy the way she seamlessly blends the teachings with light, funny jokes/stories. Thank you for sharing your gifts during this time as events of the world are unfolding. Namaste.
