Welcome and Namaste, today we are exploring Equanimity. One of the most powerful skills that can arise from a meditation practice.

Cultivate equanimity in the face of life's ups and downs, and you will find deeper access to joy.

When we cultivate equanimity, there's an inner peace that we can abide in no matter what situation life brings. There's a calm that we can hold through the inevitable storms of life.

Equanimity is not to be confused with the "near enemy" of indifference in the face of the non-virtuous, immoral, hateful or harmful actions of others, It's not standing by and allowing the injustices of the world to continue.

Equanimity is a state of even-minded openness that allows for a balanced, clear response to all situations, rather than a response borne of reactivity or impulse or strong emotion.

When equanimity is cultivated, over time we are moved by injustice in the world and motivated to make things better, but our deep inner peace is not disturbed.

We become the "eye of the storm"

Ultimately equanimity teaches us that suffering or happiness is created through one's relationship to experience, not by experience itself.

It's a state of being "frictionless"

This is a very powerful practice for me right now. I’m moving through the activation of a few traumatic events/conversations that happened this year. This is a beautiful way to visual and move towards finding a greater felt sense of safety and peace through it all.

It’s happening around me, not to me is a powerful connection I made during this meditation. My body tenses with stress in many situations, I felt myself feeling how calm my body could be even when in tensing situations. It’s happening around me, not to me. I shall carry this into my day, into my interactions with my children and mindfully bring myself back to witnessing and calming my whole body reaction. Thank you

I have been healing with you for a couple months now. My friend found you. This video was just wonderfully wonderful. I have been practicing for about a year now. I feel that this video helped me become the eye of my storm today. I feel new and rejuvenated! You are my #1 pick out of all the different practices I have studied. The others are wonderful as well. But I feel the connection to myself through you. I can’t wait to share you with more folks out there. Your my calm before my storm now. I may never know the storm is there practicing with you. Felt an absolute sense of calm and relaxation as I was being the eye of the storm and as I came our of the mediation I continued to fell calm and relaxed. The calmness and center was wonderful. I’ve never done a meditation like this. I will be saving this so I can come back to it.

I am also new to the concept of equanimity! I think this is a skill that I could really benefit from. I have been working on my "Concious Observer" with my therapist, and this meditation really helps to practice this! Although the mind can often jump to conclusions, playing the part of the Witness or Observer can help us to create space to simply notice our thoughts, and giving us freedom to make conscious and informed choices! What a gift. Thanks again Ally, I'm sure I will be watching this one again.

Beloved Ally,
checking in continuing the meditation challenge 🙏✨
This was an interesting experience, I quite enjoyed the sense of melting & softening. During that last segment of the meditation when you prompted the image of being still in the middle of the storm this overwhelming sense of trust that this too shall pass came over me since right now we are experiencing a stormy season on the Baltic Sea. The weather is quite gloomy and extremely windy and rainy at the moment but it won't be forever and winter will soon be here.
