Breakfast at Tiffany's is a 1961 American romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards, written by George Axelrod, adapted from Truman Capote's 1958 novella of the same name, and starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, a naïve, eccentric café society girl who falls in love with a struggling writer. It was theatrically released by Paramount Pictures on October 5, 1961, to critical and commercial success.

My beautiful mother loved this film and this song. Now that my mother has been gone from my life for 4 years, every time I hear this song, it grabs my heart and stops me dead on my track. Oh how I do miss my beautiful mother who was my biggest cheerleader. I know she is happy in her next life.

Such a beautiful song! It always grabs my heart and stops me dead on my track whenever I hear this song for I remember my mother listening to this song when I was a little boy. Now that my beautiful mother has passed away, every time I listen to this sweet sentimental song, I miss my mother and the girl I used to be in love with. Time does go by fast and at the end, we are left with only fading memories.

Strangest thing is years later, when I was a new airline pilot, in 2009, I had Patricia Neal on my jet. I recognized her from this movie. She could hardly walk and I offered my arm to her and helped her get off my jet. She gave me that familiar quizzical look my mother used to give me before she said to me, “my handsome boy, ” and I had the strangest sensation that I had known her all my life even though she and I were several generations apart in age. I guess age is just a number and maybe I knew her in my past life. Who knows? Life can indeed be stranger than fiction, anyways. A year later I was very much saddened to hear that she passed away.
