I think I prefer the original Tempest design, but getting Japan on board is a big W

$5 says when I wake up tomorrow, China will be saying they have a 6th gen fighter all of their own. Complete with a CGI picture of it. 🤦

Tempest is a heck of a good name for a fighter

Let's hope Italy does the styling, Japan does the electronics & manufacturer, and Britain does the actual engineering

UK has done the right thing by having Japan as its partner and moving away from germany and france, Sweden would have been a great partner to have and them leaving the project is regrettable.

Sweden withdrew because we´re building a moon to earth capable super jet with ultradimensional capabilities and you can put it all together yourself with a guide from IKEA,

Design looks like an F22/F23 hybrid, it still has vertical stabilizers.

This is based on Tempest and is a British led project which Japan and Italy joined as tier one members

After nearly 30 years The F-22’s form is still proving dominant in stealth.

The Japanese bring fresh ideas remember the first AESA system developed for the Mitsubishi F2 was soon copied by the Americans then later the Europeans . The funding issue will be tough but at least all 3 partners are united while the Germans and French squabble like 2 bald men fighting over a comb.

American here... I hope like hell it works out and is equal to or better than what we have planned!
The more, the merrier, I say!

An Anglo-Italo-Japanese aircraft design/manufacturing co-operation is sure to be an absolute giant one day, possibly soon, in the military aviation world. BAE has consistently made excellent aircraft, Japan's industries are world-renowned for their reliability (especially Mitsubishi) and the Leonardo company, while not as well-known or world-renowned as BAE or Mitsubishi, are still incredibly competent. It seems a new aviation giant might be brewing - especially if the co-operation between these nations and companies leads to the creation of a joint business, as has happened before in some of these collaborations.

Don't think anyone else has mentioned it, but that morph shot of the Typhoon turning into the Tempest at 4:00 is some sexy video editing.

Let's hope Britain's Labour government doesn't scrap this like they did with the TSR-2.

Seems like a decent set of partners for this programme. Importantly, France and Germany isn't involved. Nothing against them, but both have proven to be poor project partners, with Germany holding back export and France throwing a tantrum if they don't get a most of the production rights and a tailor made aircraft to their specifications.

nice to see international co-operation like this

I think it's going to be the best new 6th gen fighter in the world. Will be way ahead of the American Ngad project by far. With Japan and their technical knowledge and Italy this plane will be ridiculously good 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👌

As big of a fan I am of my own country (USA), I love seeing our allies succeeding. I hope this fighter can finally replace the F22 before WW3.
