Speed Metal VS Thrash Metal

As some of you might know, I love creating music and making these types of riff battle videos. ALL the RIFFS and SOLOS in this video and my other riff battles were created by me, based on some of my favorite bands of each genre. If you find some of these riffs similar to songs from other bands, it might have been totally on purpose. This is my own idea of how each genre sounds like with a little touch of my own playing and composing style.

Don't forget to comment which one hits stronger in your opinion. I just love them both, but thrash will always have a special place for me.

Speed metal = fast + Melodic
Thrash metal = very fast + Aggresive

Speed band - Agent Steel, Exciter, Accept, Motorhead, Venom

Thrash band - Metallica, Exodus, Sepultura, Overkill, Testament, Slayer.

I can hear a lot of Testament + Megadeth in the thrash riffs, and Racer X in the speed riffs. Killed it my man!!

Speed metal: Usually in the key of A or higher, more melodical in general
Thrash metal: Usually in the key of E, more focus on the groove

Speed metal is just faster Heavy Metal, while thrash is either one with hardcore punk and progressive influences. I love how you hinted at the heavy metal base of speed metal by shifting the tempos

I think you should do uplifting/dark riffs next.
Like NWOBHM/Power Metal for the uplifting ones, and Black/Death for the dark ones.

Yeah the riffs are nice and all but the main reason I wach your videos is THAT KELLY is gorgeous idk why but the shape seems the most apropiate for most metal riffs

only thing you missed on thrash metal is the punk style drumbeat from 4:4 time to halftime which usually triggers mosh pits. These are heard all throughout bands like Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Overkill, Sepultura and European bands like Kreator
