According to the video, this feature will be rolled out in *weeks*, not *hours. So basically, to upload a 3-minute short you need to upload/post the video as a *normal video*, then wait several weeks for YouTube to finish implementing longer shorts. Why even announce this as an Oct 15 event? Frankly, if I post a 3-minute vertical video today and just WAIT 3 weeks for YouTube to finish setting this up, it will absolutely decimate how the algorithm treats my channel. It's simply not an option - so I don't think YouTube should have announced a date if it wasn't the date this will all actually work.

1. What is YouTube doing to curb repeat offenders making erroneous copyright claims on music?
2. Why not allow one mid-roll advertising slot on videos between 5-8 minutes long?
3. How about letting creators put a video in two content categories simultaneously, like "Education" and "Science and Technology", for example?
4. And how about addressing the concerns expressed in the Comments section of your videos, so we can get some progress in stagnant areas?

Almost a month later after 3-minute shorts were supposed to be implemented and they STILL don't work. Why would you even bother making this announcement?

You are going about this the wrong way. DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONVERT VIDEOS UNDER 3 MIN INTO SHORTS! Give the users the option to opt-out of 3 min shorts if they so wish. We do have tutorial videos that are shorter than 3 minutes that we don't want as shorts. Thanks.

I'm okay with this update as long as you don't change the algorithm to Favor the longer content. As an animator who has to pay Per Second of animation, it doesn't make financial sense to make my shorts substantially longer just to get paid the same. A lot of my most watched shorts are 20 seconds or less and I hope I'll be able to continue to that.

Have the changes rolled out fully yet? I just uploaded short that's <3min but longer than 60 seconds ... and it's appearing as a long form video NOT a short. (Want it to be a short.) Can you please update us? Thanks!

I just uploaded a Short with length time of 1:43 and it cut off 42 seconds and made it a 1:01 short? Today is October 17th.

we still can't upload longer shorts, any update from youtube on this? I have a 90 second short ready to post but am waiting for the option still (It is Oct 15th, 9:30 am MST)

THANK YOU! Genuinely respect the fact you all have listened to the community to make Shorts longer (and also the clear benefit in competing with the other big players). Being able to filter Shorts Comments vs Long would be *amazing*

Isn’t this feature supposed to be live today? Mine still shows a 60 second limit. Can all creators upload 3 minute shorts, or is this slowly rolling out?

Well, not super surprisingly, my 'long short' is categorized as a long form video and my analytics are not pleased as a result. I hope that it doesn't tank my channel in the algorithm for being an early adopter of this new format *after* you announced it would launch (I released my short on Oct. 16th). It's fairly irritating that functional rollouts of new features are always limited to a few channels while being non-functioning for most. Such as the case with the 3 thumbnails feature, rolling out these features ahead of time for very large channels only further gives them a leg up on smaller channels and I don't see why if rollouts must be limited in their size, they can't be done more arbitrarily to promote fairness and combat favoritism.
