Why Only F-18 Super Hornets Can Do This #shorts

The F/A-18 Super Hornet’s buddy refueling system sets it apart from other fighters by allowing it to refuel aircraft mid-flight—something jets like the F-16, F-22, or F-35 can’t do. Using an aerial refueling store (ARS) and an external fuel tank, the Super Hornet can act as a tanker, transferring fuel via a hose-and-drogue system. This unique capability is essential for carrier-based operations, where traditional refueling aircraft can’t operate. By extending the range of other fighter jets, the Super Hornet provides increased flexibility and helps pilots return safely. #shorts

...so a big part missed is that the Navy fighters are almost exclusively F-18s.

Why is the f18 the only one able to refuel others? .... well thats because we gave them the ability to refuel eachother with the buddy system duh

The A-6 used to do this also. The F-18 isn't that special to do it. It just happens to be the only (read most common) aircraft platform in the fleet. So, logically, that role would be designated to the next replacement from the retired A-6.

I feel like this needs more explenation on how it works practically on missions. Cuz the one with the fuels also uses fuel. Or is the first one connected to the KC135 and then all connected till the last one?😅
