Thank you so much! We chose the Emerald Duration, semi-gloss ultra white - straight out of the can. Super happy with it! My parents have been renting the same place since 1978, and the bathroom's only been painted a couple times, and not professionally. My parents took my word for it to go to Sherman Williams to grab this stuff, and they pre-mixed it for us! 👍

Thank you so much for this video as I was under the impression is was a no no to use matte paint in a bathroom! We really love the look of matte paints so finding out duration matte is formulated to work in bathrooms is awesome! Thanks again!

Huge thanks, it was so to the point! Happy you mentioned both, so I'm driving now to a paint store and I'm confident I'll find what I need. Subscribed!

Excellent review. I am remodeling my bathroom and am finishing my drywall coatings, and the next step is to prime and paint.. but needed something good for mold protection/moisture so this was perfect. Thank you!

The Emerald is a horrible paint to work with unless you use Sherwins cheapest sleeves and brushes but the out come is too shiny and picks up every defect on the walls. Duration can not handle high humidity, especially in the matte. The only product you reviewed that can handle steamy bathrooms is Aura Matte because it is on spec for inside a SAUNA... You have to wash your walls heavily to get rid of leaching before painting or prime with Fresh Start. Never have I had lap marks from Aura Bath and Spa, it it wasn't so expensive I would paint the whole inside of the house in it. You also forgot Benjamin Moores Kitchen & Bathroom pearl which is an excellent product that has been around for ever.

What brand of paint brushes would you recommend?

Timely and helpful video because I had planned to ask you about this exact topic soon. I just want to know if duration matte will hold up to the steamy showers or if I should go up one sheen to duration satin. Also wife uses hairspray in this bath right next to wall. I like your videos a lot mainly because you do this for a living unlike the weekend hackers that sometimes dominate YouTube. I figure why not learn from all your experience and mistakes.

Recently discovered your videos and I have to say, they've been VERY helpful, as we are building a new home and to the stage of painting. Our builder prefers to use flat everything so that the walls can be touched up as needed without having to repaint a wall entirely. Assuming the price is right, we have intentions to use SW Duration (based on your videos) for all of our walls. All of our family and friends have told us to absolutely not use flat paint, but it seems that SW Duration is different. Matte is also very intriguing to us. Would you consider it to be more durable / cleanable than a flat? Thanks again for your videos!

Very helpful video, thank you! And suggestions for a relatively inexpensive Primer to seal up old chipping and cracking paint before using these products?

Hey Jeremy, appreciate the video!

I was planning to use Duration semi-gloss for the walls and ceiling for my bathrooms but I have about 1.5-ish gallons left of Duration satin that I used for all my bedroom/living room walls. Should I just use the remaining 1.5 gallons for the bathrooms or should I go with the semi-gloss? I was planning to use semi-gloss in the kitchen and bathrooms for maximum durability. (Price is not a concern.)

Great video! Question though...would you recommend using Duration on the bathroom cabinets as well, or would you suggest a different product?

I’m confused. Hope you can help. Seen your videos Amd others saying emerald matte Amd even flat is same washabilty and durability as the satin. But i called sherwin Williams and Tbey said satin will be the best for this Amd flat Amd matte will only hold up if washed with lightly dampen cloth. Amd will not have the same washabilty Amd durability as the satin. So confused

I found your videos are very helpful. I just started painting my wall using Emerald Matte. But it seems like flat to me. Is Duration matte a little shinier than Emerald matte?

What Primer would you suggest? I had some paint bubble in the shower so I scrapped it and patched it with joint compound and its going to be prime and paint time this weekend.

I don’t like semi gloss. Would satin work for the walls and trim?

Is it okay to use duration matte for the ceiling or do I have to use a ceiling paint?
