In cyprus we have smooth masonry walls, which are always chalky. So personally before I paint, I have to sand the wall down, use a blower or hose it down to get the dust off, then fill cracks, sand again, clean, 2 coats primer or stabiliser by dulux, then I can finally paint.

You sound like Christopher walken the actor! You get a sub just for that lol. 👍

We have the same stuff down under, called bondcrete, we sometimes mix it with paints and also if we want a really stronger cement or render mix we add this stuff to it. Amazing stuff.

You kind of sound like Christopher Walken. Lol. Thanks for the tips

Seal krete is a chalk sealer and primer and a paint conditioner. They have multiple products.

PPG has a primer called gripper that is great but I think a little Overkill and not cost-effective... most of the time when it comes to rough stucco, OU's a617 and backroll the whole house and then come back to where I originally started and put on a good fog coat... 2 coats dry, lots of paint...SW super paint usually.... My jobs still look good, 10years later...

How long does it take to dry? Or do you paint right after you apply this?

Can you please say : "I need more cowbell baby!"

Painting with the Loafers on huh Spence 😊

Would you put this directly on wood? If so, would you then prime, then top coat or go straight from the sealer coat to top coat? I have cedar siding that the previous owner painted and it's peeling off....I'm fixing to strip it and have to repaint it and I want my work to bond super strong.

Both are good brands but its interesting that you recommend PPG for under and Sherwin Williams for top. (in comments)

Getting ready to put a new roof on the house. Immediately after I’ll need to paint - block house, wood fascia. Would this be ok for the fascia as well or just use a regular primer?
jocgo
Not necessary. if the stucco is chalking, yes. But if you clean the stucco well with a pressure washer and use a quality paint like Sherwin Williams super paint or duration.. and backroll the paint it will bond and look beautiful for many years. I have homes I painted 6 years ago with duration that look like I just did them. Imagine applying a binding agent on a 3, 000 sqft home before painting. Paint jobs will cost a fortune!!!! You do good work but please read the technical data sheets on paints that will tell you if you need a binding agent or not for specific substrates.

Can you put this stuff in a paint sprayer and spray it instead of rolling it on?
nickrowles
I don’t know if we will have knowledgeable guys like this 20-30 years from now.
wheelie
How long after applying can you paint?
btomas
Can you spray that on, since it is so watery?
