I prefer using copper tube crimps, I never solder my wires together anymore, got it as a trait after interning as an engineer, these have given me the most solid connection and has never failed unlike soldering wires together.

If you want to make a waterproof cable connection you can add thermal silicon or thermal glue, how to insert heatsrink then burn on one side and inject thermal silicon then burn at the other end wait for it to cool then burn slowly from the edge to the center wait for it to cool 24 hours your connection is waterproof.

You should always use flux to remove the oxides on the components you're soldering, even if you're using rosin core solder. Otherwise you can get poor flow, poor wetting, and a superficial bond that will eventually break. Also "solder" is pronounced "saw-der".
