This engaging design in epoxy terrazzo, with nine striking colors and sparkling with glass and mirror aggregate, tells the stories of the local indigenous peoples through traditional basket patterns. It also represents the harsh beauty of the desert, with fire, water, and earth motifs, and a terrazzo river winding through this new casino. A composition of concentric circles representing Montezuma’s Wall, an ancient natural spring central to the Yavapai Creation Story, is the installation’s focal point. The terrazzo craftsmen worked closely with the design team to refine the original drawings for the terrazzo divider strip layout.
