Corral Style Hog Trap: MUST SEE HACK!!!

If you own or are planning to build a corral style hog trap..WATCH THIS VIDEO! This simple but effective trigger system greatly improves your wild hog catch rate. Saw this about 2 months ago. I built my trap last year but it wasn’t until I started doing this trick that I began having success. Doing the trigger like this as opposed to tying the wire to the door and a stick to the opposite side of the trap for them to trip it made the difference for me. I used a stick instead of PVC but now that I see it works I’ll get some PVC. Today I got my biggest catch yet, I got 6. Thanks for the information sharing, definitely was a game changer for me.

Great idea. You know something else this is good for is getting hogs used to the trap. I only make it out to my place on weekends, and I don't want to trap when I'm not there. So I could use the PVC to lock open the trap door while I'm away, then set the trigger when I'm there. That way the hogs get used to feeding in the trap. What do you think?

Instead of using paracord, I used some dark green 80# braid fishing line. At dusk, it was hard for me to see it, but that works! I also put a watered down generic pancake syrup in the corn pail. they loved that! (so did the turkeys).

So more pigs can enter. Perhaps put the main bait near the centre . Leaving the tripwire to the very end.

Hey y’all we have trapped since 2000 and biggest secret in the game. You don’t need a trigger for these traps. Just leave the door shut they will push it right open and when it closes you got them. This way you catch the entire herd. Works every time.

I see a couple comments about delay. Make the prop wide enough for a piglet and small hogs. The smaller hogs will be more hungry and less skittish and go in first. Let an adult close the corral trap door.
