The rarest play in baseball is supposedly the unassisted triple-play.
The player most likely to pull it off is the shortstop. With men on 1st and 2nd, the batter lines a shot up the middle. The shortstop catches the lined ball, continues running to step on 2nd base for the second out, and runs towards 1st base to tag that runner out for the third out. It helps of course if both baserunners ran when they saw the lined shot up the middle...

I have 2 triple plays. All summer ball before 10th grade.
1st- line drive dive catch to me at short. Tag 2nd base runner who came to a skidding halt in front of me. Throw to first as 1st base runner tried to get back.

2nd- dive catch at 2nd. Flip to Short on 2nd and he got the throw to 1st.

I never was a powerhouse, never was big, but very alert and very aware and all I had to do was get my hits out of the in field

This is when I was at the peak of my mets fandom. I still have two pagan jersey. Mets traded away Pagan for two terrible players Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez. Pagan won a World Series with the giants that year. I was happy for him.
