Good for them, AI Art needs to be policed if they really want it to be "a tool for artists" because until now it is yet another case of massive data laundering. AI is so good because it legit stole from millions of artists. Hope they win the case.

I'm horrified at the amount of people now selling prints of AI art. The most insufferable grifters, worse than NFT bros, imo.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit and someone needs to tag me in it so I can join 😂

I like the idea of AI as a tool but as it is it's hurting people who actually put effort in gaining their skills and then you have a weird amount of YouTube channels created less than 5 months ago putting weekly videos on how to use better prompts for these ai and it infuriates me that they teach people to use the names of the artists "to inspire from" and the art that comes out is an amalgamation of the artist social media where they post their stuff
It even tries to emulate a signature

Deviant art doing this to artists feels like one of the biggest betrayals ever 😢

This could make a great difference regarding data privacy in general. I hope they are successful 🙏

There's no way anything is going to come from this because artists use/mimic/learn from other art styles and create art that is similar to other peoples are since forever. Also how would the government enforce something like this? They'd have cops go to anime comic shows and be like, "OH YEAH THAT LOOKS SIMILAR TO THIS PERSONS ART, LET ME SEE YOUR COMPUTER, YOU'RE UNDER ARREST". Literally unenforceable. The cat is out of the bag with ai and this is the new world we live in like it or not.

finally. Because I’m seeing people generate Ai art and then use it to make products to sell. Nothing gets sent to the artists whose arts it’s pulling from. This is going too far

I doubt it, cuz if you change things to a certain point... Legally, it is a new piece in the eyes of the law. Heard this from a lawyer.. Just look @ some of the NFTS

Imagine stealing ingredients from someone's home, having a machine make food out of it, then claiming you own it now, despite stealing the materials and not having the skill to cook. That's AI art.

Finally, this stuff is great but it really needs to be "opt-in" at the very least and royalties payed by percentage of training data and when your name is used to generate something

I'll say that the most important part of the lawsuit is that now we have an example that using any sort of data for your AI and machine learning systems is dangerous, so new people getting into these won't dare to just do whatever they want fearing lawsuits. Sad that this whole thing is not common sense, but having people taking this to court is important not just for artists, but for everyone who will be affected by AI in the future.

It was inevitable. They're stealing from artist

I think AI could not generate soulful art no matter how much they are fed data from other human artists. In the long run this truth would be realised

Yep, pure stealing. The models used are owned by the artist! Unless given permission, which i doubt happened

Well. Idk if it's a strong case. But I do hope something good for the artists will come out of this.

Celebrating this. I hope every single one of them sue them.

Yes, why produce anything if it's going to be stolen like that.

Good! They should be suing, it's about time that these AI art bros get what's coming to them
