A2 Biology: The Endocrine System

An overview of the main principles of the Endocrine system. The idea that this is a system of communication between sensors and effectors, just like the Nervous system. Only that in this case the 'message' is not an action potential moving along a neurone, but a molecule that moves from the cells of the gland, via the blood, to the target cells.

Just out of curiosity, since theres no receptors for steroid hormones, what decides which organs/tissues the steroid hormones act on since theoretically they can diffuse through any cell membrane?
