Polio vaccinations underway in Gaza as Israel and Hamas agree to brief ceasefires

The United Nations is hoping to vaccinate an estimated 640,000 children in Gaza after traces of the polio virus were found in the sewage system earlier this year.

According to the WHO, a 10-month-old baby had been paralysed by the type-2 strand of the virus - the first case in Gaza in 25 years.

I really would hope that this truce is really for humanitarian reasons but I’m old enough to suspect it’s just another sneaky pharmaceutical business. I would be curious to know which are the pharmaceutical companies (and who are their owners) that are selling such vaccines…
