Beyond Paint vs. Chalk Paint | The Shocking Results! | BEYOND PAINT APPLIED 4 WAYS.

Показать описание
I put BEYOND PAINT all-in-one paint applied FOUR WAYS (sprayed, brushed, 3/8" nap roller and foam roller) to the test against Waverly CHALK PAINT to determine...... IS BEYOND PAINT BETTER THAN CHALK PAINT? I wanted to determine if, based on how it was applied, there was a significant difference in the durability of BEYOND PAINT. Does one method scratch more easily? Is one more resistant to stains from food and drink? Which application method provides the smoothest surface?

I performed a variety of "scientific" tests so you can decide for yourself whether you want to paint that next piece of furniture with Chalk Paint for Beyond Paint.

Thanks for watching!

I'm so glad I came across this video. I just saw some video's with BEYOND PAINT and thought this would be great for redoing my tiny kitchen. After watching this, it has me rethinking my options. With 3 dogs and a man-child, I need something more durable than beyond paint. Thank you for taking the time to perform this experiment.

I refinished a dining room set and coffee table with Beyond paint. It is by far the best paint Ive ever used. I don't know what it is about chalk paint that people like.

i've used both and I prefer Beyond Paint. I painted a dark mahogany dresser with white Beyond paint. All I did was clean it with a TSP solution first. no sanding. It covered in 2 coats, no bleed through. I used a foam roller and had a nice smooth surface. I tried chalk paint on a similar piece and had red bleed through in just a few weeks.

A nice objective test and review. Everything I've seen so far with Beyond Paint is the need to apply it with a nap roller so the coat is thick enough to cover well. I assume that also provides much better ability to prevent scratching (as shown in your tests). I'm definitely going to give Beyond Paint a try when I re-finish my kitchen cabinets and plan to apply two coats and use their sealer to provide a better satin finish and some extra protection. The biggest selling point for me was the ability to use it and not have to perform major pre-prep or sanding before and after, saving a huge mess in my house. Tx!

BTW... I've painted a few types of paneling (pegboard, vintage 1970s stained real wood wall paneling, etc.) and IMHO the best water based primer I've ever used was Valspar Stainblocking Bonding Primer Extreme Adhesion. It sticks to anything and never seems to lift off, even when scratched hard.

I am very upset at how your test was done. It makes me wonder about the validity of your past tests. I used Beyond Paint on my kitchen cabinets and couldn't be more thrilled. I did do a light sanding before painting because my cabinets were in pretty bad shape. I washed with what BP recommended - TWICE and rinsed. The only way that paint is coming off is with paint thinner. I tried to scratch the inside of the doors and NOTHING. Did make an indent in the wood but nothing came up/off. I painted with a brush and had a smooth shiny finish with a hint of the wood grain showing. They are beautiful.

Thanks 😊. But I also don’t think you followed beyond paints instructions starting with what you clean with before applying. But this was a great video glad I found it

Since I do not plan to try scratching my cupboards with a pen cap (lol) I think using Beyond Paint is going to work just fine for me.,

Kind of wish that you would've sealed the Beyond Paint w polyurethane to see how well it held up w addtl top coat. That would've been interesting

I happened upon this video in a search for painting my old kitchen cabinets. Beyond Paint is supposed to cure for a month. Perhaps that is why it was rubbing off? I painted an entertainment center with BP and the durability got tougher as it cured. I have used and like both BP and chalk paint for furniture. Chalk paint looks awesome, but needs that top coat for sure! Thanks for the video.

Thank you so much for this. I have always used chalk paint sealed with wipe on oily with great success. I did use beyond paint for painting tiles in my bathroom with disastrous outcome! Even after 30 days it flecked off easily.

Thank you for this objective feedback. This is the reason why I hate when I see DIYers being ambassadors for products because they don't give an objective opinion on whether the product actually works.

I cannot thank you enough for this information. I have second thoughts on what paint I was going to use.

Love this. I keep seeing Beyond Paint adds everywhere and there is no way I would ever pay that much money for paint. I painted my end tables White with Waverly and used polycrylic to seal them. Teenage boys over all the time who don’t use the coasters and they are holding up great. More expensive is not always better. I use white barn paint for all my exterior window frames and stuff. And just cans of rustoleum to spray and freshen up all my bright white pots, urns and chairs outside. It’s fast and cheap. Looks bright and clean

Thank you! I was thinking of getting some of the Beyond Paint, but this has made me totally change my mind. It's expensive paint and if it doesn't hold up well, it's a waste of money.

Thank you so much for this because i know as being a painter for 30 yrs, trying to get away without sanding or scuffing up a finish for adhesion should not be done, it should at least be scuffed up before paint is applied. But ya know as a new paint i thought well maybe it might actually work, thank goodness i didn't go out and buy it, i will be looking at the chalk paint. I was just looking for ideas on my kitchen reno job in my house, so you have saved me alot of money.

Doing my kitchen now. You have to know how to apply the Beyond Paint. I was skeptical at first also however with practice the air bubbles from the high density foam roller came out almost smooth as glass. Will update photos when done. Also I did a very light sanding to make sure it has good adhesion. Will do a scratch test after 30 days. Worse case you can put a urethane top coat after 30 days.
