I have been aware for many years of past volcanic activity in Germany, and that this activiy is not just hostorical. I'm sure there is a lake with volcanic gasses seeping up .. bubbling up though the water... but can't remember where I saw this (I think it was a TV programme about research activity). I have also see an article about possible volcanic activity in the Netherlands - Frisian Sûdwalvulkaan - again the time frame is very long, I won't need to worry in my lifetime!

The Eifel volcanic field is a much bigger candidate for future eruptions.
