Once you realize this a master performance by Audrey Totter, then you start grokking why this film was made. Her takes in this film are marvelous. Especially when she's piqued.

Hello my great friend Raven Mockery.
Unfortunately, although I like old and black and white movies, I had not watch this movie but, from the comments I read about this movie, I realized that it was a very interesting movie.
It was a harsh crime movie and offered of the detectives' social situation with a realistic perspective.
In the interesting film, the subjective camera that used to replace the main hero was used.
So the main character could be seen only when he was mentioned and when his image was reflected in a mirror.
When something about the main character in the movie, the entire cast was looking directly at the camera lens.
Throughout the movie, the audience could not see the reactions of the main character, only hear his voice.
Movies of this type was experimentally very uncommon in Hollywood at that time.
And therefore, unfortunately it had very low box office revenue.
The narrator of the story, private detective Philip Marlowe, speaks to the camera and pours his heart out and shares what has happened with the audience.
At the very beginning of the story, Marlowe, who ironically emphasizes his class position and economic situation, mentions that he wrote a book.
He had wrote his book to earn more and all he wrote was his own real-life story....
Thank you very much for publishing a scene of this wonderful and very interesting cult movie.
You remind us of the experimental films of Hollywood in the past time.It is a great pleasure for me to watch your channel.
Yours truly...
