I think the reason why some people can get the feeling that the traveler didn't do anything is that the whole Fontaine arc was around the concept of "fate", from an outsider's perspective no one in Fontaine did anything besides Foçalors and Furina, the prophecy happened exactly how it was planned, the traveler and everyone around just "played their part" as Nicole said they should, the traveler even says it out loud. We got immersed because we were the actors on the stage, our sentiments were real, but from the outside, everyone just did what was foretold.
PS* Loved this style for a video, just chilling and sharing your opinions.

Regarding Neuvillette's power of reading stone slates - I believe it is similar to how we were able to see Furina's inner self by touching her tears / how we are able to hear her voice in fountain of leucine, Neuvilette got a stronger version of that

Idk if it's bc I've watched too much anime but Furina's personality doesnt bother me at all even before Fontaine was released and they showed her on the teaser. I just know how that trope goes and they usually have more in them than just being bratty, useless or annoying lol

In the first Scene, Focalar exact words to Furina 'Should your identity be revealed, then all hope will be lost'. It is not just that all her effort over 500 years was wasted. Before the start of the trial and after giving her speech about her failure on Poisson, Furina internal thoughts were 'This time I will protect you' and the 'You' here is the 'People of Fontaine'. In her state of mind, the guilty verdict signal that she had failed and her failure doomed Fontaine.

I love how Furina's attitude and how she (and all of Fontaine) treats trials makes so much sense with Folcalor's task and promise. Furina had to treat all mortal conflicts as an amusement to keep her character of divinity, and she was promised to reach the end of her suffering with a trial, so she was thoroughly watching every one of them, hoping that it would be The One. And the people of Fontaine? Trying to grasp the divine thought or their archon, naturally gravitated torwards the things Furina is visibly interested in.

Furina did hear Focalors last words (thank you and live as human) in the cutscene, at least that something than nothing at all.

I actually really like the 'dragging' scene you mention, when we just walk around. At that scene we get to know how the people of Fontaine view the disaster that will be happen to them. We could see how they just live their life even if the disaster do come tomorrow. To more deep meaning, I think it shows how Furina actually manage to keep the hope of people of Fontaine. I mean, can u imagine leading a nation which is foreseen to be destroyed for 500 years? Just like how Wriothesley kept the primordial water on the fortress as a secret to prevent riot from the prisoner.

Btw, I really really hate how EN dub Traveler said "Fine" when Furina finally say what she wanted to say in the Magic Box, because that one word alone describes how the Traveler views Furina after seeing her struggle for 500 years, for me it sounds like they disappointed(?) annoyed(?) (idk how to describe it) at how stubborn Furina is, I think they should have already understand Furina's reason at this point. I'm glad using JP dub, I just saw the original CN it is the same as JP, idk about KR, but how the Traveler said it in JP and CN feels like the Traveler understand and admire her determination at keeping the secret and putting the people of Fontaine first. Idk maybe it just me that too sensitive to that, but EN dub doing a really good job at the other things in this Archon Quest.

Neuvillette reading waters' memories from the stone slates is akin to Azhdaha reading memories through rocks like in Zhongli's Act 2.

I saw so many people complaining about Traveler dont do anything and not seeking for sister, and especially NOT ASKING WHERE IS THE TWIN... this is show how many people dont pay attention.... we ask about our sister when we meet Neuv in fist patch, he said that our twin never commit any trouble so they have 0 info if she/he was here or not. And more about not trying to find our twin and wasting time doing nothing - out twin said we meet again when we will finish our journey, our goal now not FIND THE twin, ask everyone, our goal is FINISH THE JOURNEY. And in fontaine it was so good that not WE solve all problems and not WE superhero, even thou we kinda is still.

I think people who are frustrated with Focalors' treatment/lack of goodbye to Furina' dont *truly* get that they are the same person. Like, this view of Furina as Focalors daughter gets on your way of understanding that they are one and the same, and as such the curse Focalor cast upon her was a curse she cast upon herself. Would you really need to apologize to yourself for a choice you made? Would you really need to say goodbye to yourself once a part of who you were died? Would it have to be explicit? It really deepens the connection Furina has to a Jesus-like figure too because a few christian interpretations see Jesus not only as a son of God but a part of God, and as such, the silence when hes finally sacrificed is part of the trial he put unto himself

About Traveller and Paimon walking around Fontaine and waiting for the time to execute the trap, I feel it was them as a newcomer to a truth that many had long contended with and accepted with their own in interpreting and grief. They felt sad for the people, while the people had long been sad already, and were prepared for the things to come

I kinda agree with the whale fight being mid, honestly I just don’t like the weekly bosses that are monsters like Azhdaha, whale, or worst of all the Apep immune system. These fights just don’t hit the same as the people fights with Scara, Childe, or Shogun. Idk, probably a hot take 🤷‍♂️

I guess there's no time for Focalors to thank/apologize to Furina directly before her execution because it might affect the plan, so she could only sent that "Thank you Furina, for all you've done. From this moment on, please live happily as a human, just as I wished we could." message shortly after her death. I'm sure it reached Furina :"")

We were buffed during the whale fight during the story. I noticed we had a pneumosia symbol on top of our heads during the fight, so it was definitely because Neuvillette was with us.

I actually like that part where we're going around enjoying life while the Fatui set up the plot more than the whole dramatic shit in the court.
It's because it really characterises people like Charlotte and Sedene. It's the stuff Mona talks about: About how even if Fate is certain, humanity won't stop living and doing what they want, striving for what they want. This links to GAA v2. The one that has Mona domain.

If anything I find that the whole sequence in which we led Furina into "the box" should have had more gameplay. Maybe they could have utilised the hide-and-seek mechanic we have on the minigames here. It'd totally be better than just randomly walking around that can be done in like 10s.

The scene after that, the one where Furina almost broke, is also a bit annoying, because when you think about it: we haven't even hang around Furina long enough for her to see us as friend. So it is as if we're trying to powerplay Furina using our Tevyat celebrity status to reveal to us her plan. We were not close enough to Furina to be justified to ask about that.
And Furina isn't like Ayaka (whom, even before we met her, Thoma alr said that she is very enthralled about the stories of our adventure. and even Ayaka originally had reserves too). Nor she is like Yoimiya (in general a good girl, altho even she has her secret). Nor she is like Kokomi (someone who was our superior even if a short while, whom secretly also faps to us).
There isn't a... relationship build between us and Furina before that scene. Nor as friend, nor as partner. We were acquaintance, at best. For the most of Fontaine AQ, the traveler was working either with the Fatui, with Neuvi, or with Spina di Rosula. Thus: in that scene, the traveler feels more like a stranger bullying Furina into saying whatever the traveler wants. Yep, it just feels like hoyo wants to write a witness character into the traveler, but cannot be consistent about it bcs they feel like we have to do something.

After seeing a couple of stream highlights from a couple of streamers (both EN and JP), the reactions one would have with this quest is dependent on which voiceover you choose to listen to. With whatever reason, the voice direction between EN and JP* diverges greatly in this quest, which affects how you would interpret the events, at least on the surface level. A possible explanation one would say is the interpretation of "tatemae" and "honne" (the mask you wear in public and your true feelings) being ingrained in Asian cultures, resulting in Neuvi and Furina's lines being greatly subdued, as one would expect a "kami" (god/higher being) would act like, thus you wouldn't hear feelings explicitly from the lines they say.

Personally, I'd say the EN direction suited far better in this quest, considering that the theme is Western opera and we're not doing some Noh operatic performance. But still, there are some parts (in terms of the lines and not the voice direction) that EN should do better to not be misleading in some parts; one instance that pops to my mind is Furina's line of "This time, I will protect you." In this case, one would think that Furina's referring to Focalors, but why and how would she want to protect, you know, a god? Then I went back again and in the JP script, she used "kimi-tachi", which translates more accurately as "you all", Here, she's referring to the Fontainians; this time, she will protect the Fontainians from the prophecy from happening (and unfortunately "failed" at it).

*with CN being similar to JP's direction with a few selected scenes I've heard through; KR dub with EN lines seems to be difficult to find for some reason
