Alright so let me explain here... No, It’s not what you think... It’s not replacing any of my Blackmagic cameras — not at all. But it has replaced a camera in my arsenal that used to capture video and client photography. In this video I share what I've discovered about the EOS R and why I sorta regret buying it.

I'm considering selling my GH5S, which I pretty much use for stills at this point thanks to my BMPCC 4K. It just so happens to be the EOS R that I plan on picking up for stills.

I just picked up an EOS R yesterday as my cheap secondary camera to my Phase One, and I'm loving it so far. It provided me with the most DSLR feeling out of all of the mirrorless cameras while giving me a camera that can shoot a high ISO with minimal noise which is something that Medium Format can't do. I only do photography and like I said this is a cheap secondary camera for me (obviously there's a quality difference between the two, but also different use cases), so my needs are slightly different, and perhaps that's why I'm loving it a little more than someone coming from a cinematography background.

I really regret buying the Canon M50. I spent a lot of money on lenses and adapters to get some results but I ended up buying the BMPCC4K anyway. 8 bits. You can't jump over this.

As always, loved the straight forward and elegantly told review. This was helpful for me as I've also been looking for a designated still camera and a just shooting fam and friends. I did just buy canon's 7E analog 35mm camera though just brush of my analog photography skills.

I have a Canon 90D and a Canon M50 (all the videos in my channel are shot with them) BUT I am seriously considering to buy an EOS R...actually I thought of the R6 for a while but since I'm also upgrading my computer to a 27 inches 5K Imac....maybe it would be better for me to get the R saving the money of the price difference with the R6...to invest on a lens or a better drone etc...I will still use the 90D (especially for the 120fps 1080) but I would like the R to become my main camera...so my question is...coming from the M50 and the 90D...the EOS R would be a kind of an upgrade or would I be disappointed? Reading the specs might be deceiving and different from real world use...so that's why I would like your opinion. Thanks!

I have bmpcc 4K that I use with speed booster. I had the Sony a73 and sold it for canon eos r. The main reason was glass. I wanted to have glass that would work well with both systems. I was immediately happy with eos r. I use it for stills as well as family stuff. I have 2 year old twin boys and trying to manually focus on toddlers is hard lol. I prefer the look of canon to Sony as well as the form factor and menus. So bmpcc 4K for my video work and canon for stills and family. The 1080 on the canon is amazing imo

Colour is changeable mate. It’s a camera setting isn’t it

Great video. I recently sold my a6400 for the eos rp. I wanted a full frame look and for the price you cant beat it.

Wouldn’t the problem be the fact that you’re still the same photographer (artist) so your images will still come out more or less the same unless it would be a huge upgrade in gear?
