Starting indoor hydroponic tomatoes, indeterminate and determinate. 4 kinds of tomatoes, Roma tomato, black cherry tomato, large red cherry tomato, and floradade tomato. Indeterminate keep growing very tall where determinate stop and flower. Indoors we need to top and prune them. Both should be pruned into one or 2 main stems. Tomatoes are day neutral and don’t care what light schedule they get to flower so it’s key to prune them indoors to help them flower. I had 2 that were over 2 years old, they are self pollinating easy to clone and identify sun leaf's and suckers. Suckers are in-between the main steam and sun leaf and want to make another tomato plant. To save energy and keep the plant small, clip suckers, leaving sun leaf's. The sucker will would otherwise become another main stem and we only want 1 or 2 stems. What are the square things the tomatoes are growing out of??? Seed pods???

I thought that if you are growing determinate, you should not prune anything because all you're doing is cutting off potential fruit on a plant that will only be a certain size. Do you cut the suckers on determinate variety? If so, why???
