I don't know if this would help yah guys but if you want to have the soft or dreamy look I suggest to duplicate your line art and blur it...

I think it's harder for me to not simply make long, smooth lines but to actually connect them together nicely. I was always scribbling fast, messy sketches on papers and now getting rid of this habit seems almost impossible. Not to mention, focusing on this tiny circle on a screen is pretty tiring :p But I guess I was never paying enough attention to my lines quality. This tutorial comes just about time!

I think another good tip is to have a cleaner sketch overall. It really helped me a lot in transitioning between sketch to lineart by getting my sketch a lot more cleaner. This is something that I notice many other artists do, they have a relatively clean sketch, or start really roughly and then refine that sketch.
I guess by having a cleaner sketch you wouldn't be confused about where you should place your lineart
if the sketch was rougher and has guidelines everywhere it would be relatively harder to draw your lineart because you can confuse the lines in your sketch.

Also, my tablet is actually pretty small so I'm not really able to do the elbow movement as efficient, and I'm not really the type to rotate my canvas, so I would definitely try to improve in that aspect!

I feel like I learned some things but I will not remember well enough.
1. line confidence- (don't do the short hairy lines) ctrl Z until the line is right.
2. Line Thickness- use thinner lines to show detail and distance, thicker lines for outline and shadowed area
3. Line color- use lighter lines for background
3 line suggestion- use lines to show volume & texture, hint at shading with lines.

I am not educated in art at all. The only things I have learned how to draw is knives and some design sketches for blacksmithing. I have wanted to learn how to sketch for years now. Even before trying any digital art I would do a rough outline with lots of erasing, then trace a new piece of paper to do a final outline, then trace again to do some basic shading. It is pretty cool how with digital we can do this with full control. I appreciate the tips, have to lean muscle memory first.

I like doing my line art in a vector program such as Affinity Designer...then back to the bitmap program (Krita). Really clean.

My god, the trick of filling a little bit of the space where the lines converge is such a powerful tool! Such an easy touch for a great result! ❤️

Hey Marc I recently just bought your artschool lessons, and I must say I’m really really happy with it. Like thanks so much for a program like this! Since I couldn’t find any other lessons that teach you everything for a very reasonable price. Anyways love your work and I hope to see you succeed even more and stay safe!😄
